It depends on which version of CrashPlan you have. With CrashPlan Essential it’s a 30-day deleted file retention. CrashPlan Professional is 60 days. And the CrashPlan Enterprise package is unlimited.
You choose how many versions of your data to keep, and how far back in time to go. We don’t place any limits on versioning.
We only charge for the data that’s actually stored in the cloud. And once it’s compressed, it will be a lot less than what’s on your computer(s). Versions are stored (see above question), but not the full data of each version – just the incremental data that’s different from previous versions – which keeps your data from ballooning. We don’t backup the same block of data twice. You can read more about how CrashPlan backup works here:
https://support.crashplan.com/hc/en-us/articles/8854866030349–How-CrashPlan-backup-works
With CCTs, you are working from one static version of a file that may or may not have edit history. CCTs have no true versioning and no deleted retention. That means that someone could make an irreversible edit or a file could accidentally get deleted – and it’s gone forever. With CrashPlan, all of your data is backed up, all the time, ensuring fast and reliable recovery – and removing the chance of human error.
